Actuarial Manager – QED Kenya (Life Team)

The Life consulting team is expanding and currently has a vacancy for an Actuarial Manager. The team assists clients in 22 countries across Africa on a range of projects varying between statutory and HAF appointments. The primary responsibility of the role will be assisting in the running of various actuarial projects in the Life team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior managers where necessary
  • Reserving / statutory valuations / SAM Pillar I
  • Product pricing and design
  • Capital modelling & Asset liability modelling
  • Supporting the Head of Actuarial Function
  • Reinsurance reviews
  • Drafting reports and communications
  • Supporting the consulting actuary
  • Multitask and work on multiple projects
  • Performing market studies and research
  • Embedded Value Reporting
  • Analysis of Surplus/ Analysis of Embedded Value
  • ORSA (Own Risk & Solvency Assessment)
  • FCRs (Financial Condition Reports)
  • IFRS 17 Implementation
  • Adhere to professional standards and ethical practice

Requirements

  • Degree in Actuarial Science
  • Minimum of 4 years’ Life experience in (consulting) similar environment
  • Advanced skills in Excel
  • Knowledge of Actuarial Software (Prophet is an added advantage)
  • Flexibility to deal with changing projects and priorities in a short space of time
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to learn new methods and processes
  • 6-9 actuarial IFoA exams or an equivalent actuarial body
  • High attention to detail
  • Project management knowledge and skill is an added advantage
