Accounts Officer – Mauritius

Tasks

  • Account for purchase invoices from suppliers
  • Reconciliation of suppliers’ accounts
  • Process payments to suppliers
  • Account for cash & bank process
  • Manage forex process
  • Account for cut-off transactions: Accruals, depreciation, prepayments
  • Update fixed asset register
  • Raise invoices and credit notes
  • Reconciliation of inter-company accounts
  • Bank Reconciliation
  • Assist in preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Filing of accounting documents
  • Manage collection of debtors
  • Assist external auditors during audit process
  • Maintain the accounts in Mauritius, Kenya and Nigeria
  • Prepare consolidated accounts
  • Filing of relevant regulatory returns
  • Payroll
  • Skills

  • Knowledge of Pastel Partner Accounting Software would be an advantage
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting
  • Experience with multi-currencies an advantage
  • Deadline driven, ability to work under pressure, attention to detail
  • Member of Mauritius Institute of Professional Accountants (MIPA)

    General Insurance Actuarial Consultants – JHB office

    The General Insurance consulting team is expanding, and we are offering roles at various levels of development and seniority. The team assists clients in 17 countries across Africa on a range of projects varying between statutory and HAF appointments to new product designs and complex pricing models. The candidates will be reporting to the manager in the General Insurance unit and providing actuarial and technical assistance to the actuaries and clients. The same division is responsible for Enterprise Risk and Capital Management and Data Analytics.

    Tasks

  • Calculating technical provisions including IBNR, UPR, AURR etc.
  • Capital modelling including determining the SAM SCR, as well as capital requirements in other jurisdictions.
  • Product pricing and design, including working with GLMs
  • Reinsurance reviews and optimisation
  • Asset liability modelling
  • Expense analyses and profitability assessments
  • Drafting reports and communications
  • Supporting the consulting actuary
  • Performing market studies and research
  • Maintain and improve client relationships
  • Provide technical advice to General Insurance clients across Africa
  • Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in General Insurance, either in pricing, capital modelling or valuations.
  • Good progress with exams with at least 5 CT passed
  • Experience with SAM, ORSA’s, valuations and solvency calculations will be beneficial
  • Strong actuarial technical skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and highly motivated
  • Ability to work to a deadline and give regular feedback on progress
  • Attention to detail
